If splashing around in a canoe is your idea of fun, then look no further. The Glyncorrwg Ponds are ideal for beginners and more experienced canoeists.
This crystal clear lake is fed from the river Corrwg. For the last five years it has been the home water of the Afan Valley Paddlers Canoe Club. The club was formed in 1995 by members of the local community. The club now has over 30 members. The paddlers meet on the lake most Sundays throughout the summer. There are several trips to other waters and a number of slalom competitions through the year. Training moves to the swimming pool at Cymmer during the winter. With easy all-round access the lake is an ideal outdoor venue for beginners. With the help of the club instructors, paddlers can pass their B.C.U 1 and 2 star and canoe safety tests with ease. Another
advantage of the Glyncorrwg ponds for still water canoeing is the size of the lake. Measuring 320 m long
and 75m wide. This If the weather conditions permit *, canoeist can have access to a quarter mile section of the River Corrwg which runs through the Glyncorrwg Ponds * (when the river is in spate).
